Alexis Ufland may jokingly call herself an “oldie,” but let’s be clear—she’s a certified industry OG (Original Guru). With over 25 years of experience shaping the spa, beauty, and wellness world, she’s the brains (and the wit) behind some of the most innovative and successful spa concepts across the globe.

Her career kicked off when she sailed the high seas with Steiner Leisure (the world’s largest spa company located aboard luxury cruise ships), where she was the aerobics instructor. Somewhere out there, a vintage VHS exists of Alexis leading a workout with Kathie Lee Gifford—Jane Fonda would be so proud. From there, she took her expertise internationally, crafting next-level spa experiences across Europe and Asia. Partnering with boutique hotels and major hospitality groups, she helped bring luxury wellness to destinations throughout Singapore, Italy, Spain, and beyond—because if you’re going to spa, why not do it somewhere fabulous with a view?

In 2000, Alexis returned to New York and built the first medical spa in the country, helping to pioneer an industry that is now booming. She’s worked with everyone from Deepak Chopra to major hotel groups like Starwood and Marriott, proving that she's the real deal when it comes to spa, wellness, and branding.

Today, Alexis is the powerhouse behind LEXI DESIGN, a premier consulting and branding firm specializing in spa, beauty, and wellness, and SPA SOCIAL, its marketing arm dedicated to helping spa and med spas thrive. Her philosophy? Break the rules, innovate boldly, and craft unforgettable client experiences. With a blend of expertise, humor, and straight-shooting honesty, she helps entrepreneurs turn their vision into reality.

Based in the West Village of NYC, Alexis is also the founder of SPARTY!, an event company that brings spa and beauty experiences to the party scene. When she’s not designing the next big thing in wellness, you can find her writing for top industry publications, speaking at global conferences, or ordering another round of margaritas (because balance, right?).
